The Wrangler runs on a 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 285 horsepower and a torque of 260 pound-feet. The standard 4-wheel drive system includes both low- and high-range gearing. Going with the Rubicon trim upgrades the transfer case to have an extra-low crawl ratio and adds short gearing. You can pick from a 6-speed manual and 5-speed automatic. The first comes with hill start assist while the second also includes hill descent control. Depending on how you configure your Wrangler, you can tow up to 3,500 pounds and enjoy up to 18 mpg combined*.
Jeep Wrangler Off-Roading Features
The Wrangler is one of the Jeeps that are designed to take off-road in every trim level. As such, every single model has at least a full-size spare tire, on/off-road tires, tow hooks, skid plates, a fold-down windshield, and removable doors. The Rubicon trim is ideal for serious off-roaders, with 32-inch tires, a heavy-duty front axle, a reduced rear-axle ratio of 4.10, the upgraded transfer case, electronic rear and front locking differentials, rock rails, and a front sway bar that electronically disconnects.

If you opt for the regular Wrangler, you only get 12.8 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seats, but folding them down increases the capacity to 55.8 cubes. The Wrangler Unlimited, however, has four doors and much more room, including 31.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 70.6 cubes behind the front row.
