Ram 1500 Engines and Capabilities
The base Ram 1500 comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that puts you in control of 305 horsepower and a torque of 269 pound-feet. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic and gets up to 21 mpg combined*. Some of the higher trims come standard with a 5.7-liter V8 generating 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet with either a 6-speed or 8-speed automatic and up to 17 mpg combined*. The majority of Ram 1500 trims offer the 3-liter EcoDiesel V6, a turbodiesel with the 8-speed, 420 pound-feet, and 240 horsepower. When paired with the HFE trim, this engine is the most efficient of all full-size pickups, achieving 24 mpg combined*.
The base V6 engine in the Ram can let you tow up to 7,610 pounds and haul as much as 1,890 pounds. Moving up to the diesel V6 increases the towing limit to 9,210 pounds and adjusts the payload to 1,600 pounds. The V8 engine is the most powerful, with 1,800 pounds of payload and 10,640 pounds for its towing capacity.

The technology you get with the Ram 1500 will vary greatly depending on the trim level you select, but every single model has at least an auxiliary audio jack, a USB port, six speakers, and a 3.5-inch driver information screen. You can also enjoy features like a 5-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch driver information display, Bluetooth, satellite radio, Uconnect Access, 10 speakers of surround sound, navigation, and HD radio.
