You may have heard that Dodge is updating the Challenger lineup for the next model year. While you look forward to the upcoming all-wheel-drive version of the Challenger known as the GT AWD, you can enjoy some of the more popular performance trims available on the current 2016 model. For those who love a thrilling ride and the Challenger’s styling, the SXT and R/T trims are great choices.
Challenger SXT
The Challenger SXT is actually the base trim level of this popular and sporty vehicle. It comes with a V6 engine, automatic headlights, heated mirrors, LED “halo” running lights, and 18-inch wheels. Inside, it is packed with features, like cruise control, keyless entry and ignition, rear air vents with dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and two-tone upholstery to give it a sporty feel. You even have 6-way power adjustment for the driver and leather on the tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Technology features include Bluetooth and inputs for USB, auxiliary audio, and an SD card. The V6 under the hood delivers 305 horsepower and a torque of 268 pound-feet with the ability to reach 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds.
Challenger R/T
The 2016 Challenger R/T is a very similar model, but it has a few unique features. It adds a rearview camera and a deck-lid spoiler. You also get 20-inch wheels, upgraded brakes, and the most important upgrade, a V8 engine. The 5.7-liter V8 generates 375 horsepower plus 410 pound-feet with a 6-speed manual or 372 horses and 400 pound-feet with an 8-speed automatic. It also has impressive acceleration, taking 5.8 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph.
