Fans of Jeep probably already know that the automaker has plans to combine the Patriot and Compass into one model. Up until now, enthusiasts have been left wondering what this Com-Patriot model would look like, but recent spy shots give us a very good idea of the answer to that question.
Com-Patriot Overall Styling
The photos were taken in Brazil before an official photo shoot and give us a very good idea of what to expect from a combined Patriot and Compass. It has the same overall shape as prototypes tested previously and has plenty of styling cues that are reminiscent of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, its larger and more expensive counterpart. Based on the badging of the model seen in Brazil, it will likely still be called a Compass despite being merged with the Patriot. The front of the SUV has a grille that is very reminiscent of the one on the Grand Cherokee, complete with seven different rectangular openings. These openings are smaller than those on the current Compass and are covered in chrome trim.
The LED daytime running lights and headlights are also incredibly similar to those found on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The model also has a black roof, which hasn’t been seen on a Jeep before but seems to take after European competitors. Instead of the square-like taillights on previous versions, this Compass-Patriot hybrid has oval ones.
What Else We Know About the Com-Patriot
Based on rumors and predictions, the new Jeep Compass-Patriot combination will use a modified version of the same platform that is on both the Jeep Renegade and the Fiat 500X. The expected powertrain is a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 9-speed automatic or 6-speed manual. It should also come standard with front-wheel drive with available all-wheel drive. We do know that Jeep will be manufacturing the next-generation Compass in Brazil and that the model will make an official debut there at some point this year. It will later head to the Los Angeles Auto Show.
