Pokémon Go has invaded our cities and our mobile devices! Since the launch of Pokémon Go you see more and more people walking around with their phone’s out, trying to catch that one Pokémon that they need to add to their Pokédex.
Don’t Pokémon & Drive
This may seem pretty obvious, but there is a reason that the Pokémon Go App now pop’s up a screen requiring you to click “I am a Passenger” once you hit a certain speed. Driving while being distracted is extremely dangerous for you and everyone around you. If you want to scour the city to find all the Pokémon and all the Pokéstops, use a buddy system approach. Let one person drive the car, and focus on the road. While the passenger controls the phones for both the driver and the passenger while hitting all the Pokéstops along the road. If there is a Pokémon or Gym nearby that you want to visit, carefully pullover into a safe public parking lot until you are ready to get back on the road.
Be Aware of Your Surroundings
This actually covers so many different safety aspects of playing Pokémon Go. You need to make sure that being safe is your number one concern. This means, don’t trespass while playing the game and make sure you aren’t being “lured” into a dangerous area just because there is a lure on a Pokéstop near you in the middle of the night. A buddy system approach can also be useful when you are playing but not driving. This game is great because it has pulled people off the couch and has them exploring areas of their city they may have never seen before, but it is much better when played responsibly!
Hopefully you are having fun while catching all the Pokémon in your area and you stay safe wherever the game may lead you! Play on!
